Land Clearing, Site Preparation and Agricultural Development

Once the property to be acquired has been selected, the next step is to determine the area to be cleared and prepared for agricultural or livestock development. The size and location of the area to be cleared depend primarily on the availability and distribution of water, the planned pasture and paddock layout, and the type and density of native vegetation.

The type of forest determines both the clearing method and the associated costs. We select the most appropriate equipment and methodology according to the characteristics of each property.

Clearing and Land Preparation Methods

a) Chain Clearing

This method consists of pulling down the native vegetation using a heavy-duty clearing chain attached between two Caterpillar tractors. It is an efficient method for clearing large areas where the vegetation and terrain conditions are suitable.

b) Chain Clearing and Windrowing

After the vegetation has been pulled down with the clearing chain, the trunks, branches and woody material are organized into continuous rows or windrows. This process is carried out using Caterpillar tractors, which push and consolidate the material to facilitate subsequent field operations.

c) Clearing with a Blade Roller

This method is generally used in the Chaco region, particularly in areas with medium-density vegetation. Caterpillar D6 or D7 tractors equipped with a blade roller, commonly known as a Rolo Faca, are used.

The implement works through a combination of impact and cutting action, breaking, cutting and crushing branches, trunks and woody vegetation. In suitable conditions, pasture seeders can be incorporated into the operation, allowing land clearing and pasture establishment to be carried out simultaneously, significantly improving operational efficiency.

d) Tractor-Based Removal of Woody Material

Tractors equipped with appropriate blades or implements are used to move, gather and organize remaining trunks, branches and other woody material after the initial clearing operation.

e) Manual Clearing and Field Cleanup

In areas where mechanical clearing is not practical or where residual vegetation remains, manual labor is used to remove smaller branches, sticks and other material. This allows agricultural machinery to operate efficiently and reduces obstacles during subsequent field preparation and planting.

f) Land Leveling

Land leveling is recommended primarily for areas intended for agricultural production. Proper leveling facilitates drainage, improves field management and allows for more efficient use of agricultural machinery.

g) Harrowing and Soil Preparation

Harrowing is carried out to further condition and refine the soil after clearing and leveling. This operation helps prepare a suitable seedbed for pasture or crop establishment.

h) Planting and Seeding

Depending on the type of production system and the characteristics of the property, we use different planting and seeding methods, including both ground-based and aerial applications. These methods can be adapted for the establishment of pastures as well as annual crops.

Machinery and Equipment

We and work with a network of specialized external contractors and equipment suppliers, allowing us to undertake a wide range of land-clearing, earthmoving and agricultural development operations.

Their equipment includes Caterpillar and Komatsu tractors of different sizes and horsepower ratings, allowing us to select the appropriate machinery according to the type of vegetation, terrain, size of the property and specific requirements of each project.

We also have access to specialized equipment for different types of clearing operations, including blade rollers (Rolo Faca), heavy-duty clearing equipment and pasture seeders adapted to local conditions.

We work with specialized suppliers of agricultural tractors, disc harrows, implements and maintenance services to ensure that land preparation and planting operations are carried out properly and efficiently.

For pasture and crop establishment, we have access to different types of seeders suitable for a variety of production systems and field conditions.
